Returning From the Dead

As I glanced at the internet news sources, I read with renewed interest an article which I chanced upon dealing with the issue of extinction. It appears that despite the environmental conservationists have designated specific species of animals as prior to extinction they have never-the-less being discovering these same animals alive and roaming joyously in various parts of the globe. This series of events come as no surprise to me, for I have continuously promoted the theory that even after the worst disaster that we could imagine occurring on earth, mankind will still survive. Short of our earth imploding we will ever discover small pockets of human activities at different locations providing manic can and will survive the worst.

Granted those fortified groups of survivors will need to absolutely change their lifestyles and habits as well as the way they would normally do business, but they would in fact still be "alive and kicking." Several films created in Hollywood which I have watched in the past few years have offered support towards my theories as well. In the blockbuster hit "The Day After", we see at the conclusion of the show many small assemblies of people standing on the rooftops of the various high-rise buildings in New York City. The movie may be nothing short of an active Hollywood imagination, but the facts remain the same. Just as the singer Gloria Gaynor once chanted in her hit recording, "We Will Survive" that is unerringly what mankind will do as well.

When we reflect back in time to the earths past ice ages, we still see that human life elapsed beyond the disaster and somehow despite the over whelming odds managed to remain alive to repopulate the earth. How these specifically primary races of people were able to thrive and achieve these amazing results is nothing less then a miracle. They had no modern resources at their disposal yet managed to beat the odds. It makes a person sit back in their easy chair and question if the ancestors of our modern man were actually as primitive as we have been led to believe. When we consider how this assemblage of people with the mentality of the proverbial "cavemen" could survive an ice age which wiped out a vast number of animals on our earth, it provides a significant amount of encouragement to us as potential survivors.

If these distant relatives of ours could make it "back from the dead" thousands of years in the past then I foresee no difficulties in us resisting the odds of become "extinct" ourselves. There is no proof that when a disaster occurs on earth mankind will become the reclusive creature that legends are composed of. We will not leave from the face of the earth nor should we fear that the biodiversity of earth will change drastically. These previous hair-raising thoughts of 'mass extinction' for mankind are nothing more then the fabric from which our science fiction movies are based and we will never go the route of the fabled dinosaurs.
